Getting Started

HelloFellow is a Christian travel & fellowship app for women travelers. It helps you discover fellow Christian female travelers nearby, find churches in your area, fellowship and connect through in-app messaging, and grow spiritually through daily devotionals and Bible study plans — all in a safe, verified environment.

HelloFellow is exclusively for women aged 18 and older. During sign-up, you must confirm you are female, and you must be at least 18 years old. This is verified through our identity verification process.

Download the app, then follow our guided onboarding process: enter your name, email, date of birth, and create a password. You’ll receive a 6-digit verification code to your email. After confirming your email, you’ll complete identity verification, set your location, add your occupation and bio, and agree to our legal terms.

Yes. You can sign up using Google or Apple Sign-In. If you do, you’ll skip the personal info and email verification steps since your identity is already confirmed by those providers. You’ll go straight to identity verification.

HelloFellow is currently available on iOS. Android availability is planned for the future.

Founding Fellows are our early adopters who joined HelloFellow during its initial beta test period. They receive a special badge on their profile recognizing their support in building the community from the ground up.

Onboarding & Identity Verification

Your safety is our top priority. Because HelloFellow connects women travelers who may meet in person, we require every user to verify their identity. This ensures that every person on the platform is who they say they are, creating a trusted community where you can feel confident connecting with others.

You need two things: (1) a photo of a valid government-issued ID (passport, driver’s license, or national ID card), and (2) a live selfie taken in the app. Both are required to proceed.

When you take your selfie, the app will ask you to perform a random action — such as smiling, keeping a neutral expression, or turning your head slightly to the left or right. This “liveness check” confirms you are a real person and not using a photo of someone else.

Your documents are reviewed manually by our trained verification team — real people, not an algorithm or third-party AI service. We intentionally chose a manual review process over automated systems to keep your sensitive data more secure. Your documents are never sent to external APIs or third-party services for processing.

Verification is typically completed within 24 hours. You can continue setting up your profile while your verification is being reviewed. You’ll receive an in-ap notification a and email when the review is complete.

All verification documents — your government ID photo and selfie — are automatically and permanently deleted from our system immediately after our team completes the review, whether you are approved or denied. We never retain your government ID or selfie images. The only thing we keep is your verification status (approved or denied) — no images, no copies, no screenshots.

If denied, you’ll see a banner on your profile explaining the reason for the denial. You will also receive an email explaining the reason as well. You can resubmit new documents directly from the app. Each resubmission is reviewed fresh by our team. Common reasons for denial include blurry photos, expired documents, or the selfie not clearly matching the ID.

Yes. You may appeal verification decisions within 30 days or simply resubmit clearer documents through the app.

Subscription & Pricing

Your subscription unlocks all features: the church finder, fellow traveler discovery, in-app messaging, daily devotionals, and embedded Bible study plans.

You can manage or cancel your subscription through your device’s app store (Apple App Store). Go to Settings > Your Name > Subscriptions on your iPhone to manage your HelloFellow subscription. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period.

App Features

The Traveler Finder shows you verified female travelers within a 30-mile radius of your current location on an interactive map. You can view their profiles, send friend requests, and connect through in-app messaging.

The Church Finder helps you discover churches near your location. You can browse churches on the map, view details, and find a place of worship wherever your travels take you. You can also request that a church be added if it’s not already listed.

HelloFellow uses location-based technology to search for nearby churches within a 15-mile radius of your current location. We source church listings from comprehensive place databases and filter the results to surface churches that are relevant to our community. Results are cached for up to 7 days to reduce data usage and load times, and automatically refresh if you travel more than 5 miles from your last search location.

We take doctrinal integrity seriously. Our search system automatically filters out organizations that don’t align with biblical Christian doctrine, including groups like the Church of Scientology, Christian Science (Church of Christ, Scientist), Jehovah Witnesses, Church of Latter Day Saints, progressive churches, and other non-Christian or cult-affiliated organizations. While no automated filter is perfect, we continuously update our exclusion list to protect our users from being directed to organizations that misrepresent Christianity. If you encounter a church in our directory that you believe doesn’t align with sound biblical doctrine, you can report it directly through the app.

Not at all — Catholics are absolutely welcome to join HelloFellow and use every feature, including the Fellow Traveler section to connect with other believers. However, the Church Finder is designed primarily to help users find Protestant and non-denominational churches, which can be significantly harder to locate when traveling — especially internationally. Catholic churches are widely established and relatively easy to find in most countries through existing directories. Our goal is to fill the gap for travelers who struggle to find a doctrinally sound, English-speaking church when they’re away from home. If you’re Catholic and would like to see Catholic churches included in a future update, we’d love to hear your feedback through the Contact Support feature.

If you visit or discover a church listed in our directory that doesn’t align with biblical doctrine, no longer exists, or lacks English-language services (outside the US), you can submit a report directly from the app. You’ll select a reason — such as doctrinal concerns, no English support, or both — and optionally provide additional details. Every report is sent to our admin team for manual review. Once reviewed, the church may be removed from the directory or flagged for further investigation. This feature is a key part of how we maintain the quality and safety of our church recommendations — it’s a community effort.

Once you’re connected with another user (mutual friend request accepted), you can message them directly within the app. Messaging features include typing indicators, read receipts, and real-time delivery. You can control typing indicators and read receipts in your app settings.

Each day, HelloFellow provides a new devotional reading to inspire your spiritual journey. You can track your progress and build a consistent devotional habit.

HelloFellow also includes embedded Bible study plans (single and group) that you can work through at your own pace. Track your study progress and grow in your faith alongside your travel adventures.

Privacy, Security, & Safety

Your location is used to show you nearby travelers and churches. Your approximate location is visible to other users on the map so they can discover fellow travelers in their area. You can update your location at any time in settings.

No. HelloFellow never displays your exact location to other users. All map markers are intentionally offset from your real position to protect your privacy. Even if someone zooms all the way into the map, they will only see an approximate area — not your precise coordinates. For added security, friends see a slightly closer approximation (within ~200 meters), while non-friends see a wider offset (within ~1 kilometer). Your exact GPS coordinates are never shared with or visible to any other user. This offset is applied at the database level, meaning the precise data never even reaches another user’s device.

Yes. The “Show Online Status” toggle in your app settings lets you hide your online presence. When turned off, other users won’t see whether you’re currently active or recently active. This is turned on by default but you can disable it at any time.

Your data is stored securely using industry-standard encryption. Verification documents are encrypted in transit and at rest, access is strictly controlled, and all documents are permanently deleted after review. We never sell your data to third parties.

We collect your name, email, date of birth, profile information (occupation, bio, profile photo), location data, and temporarily your verification documents (government ID and selfie). Verification documents are deleted after review. We also collect usage data to improve the app experience.

Yes. You can delete your account at any time from your profile page. Account deletion is permanent and removes all your personal data, profile information, messages, and connections from our system.

Safety is the foundation of HelloFellow. Every user must complete identity verification before accessing the community. All verifications are manually reviewed by our team. We require government-issued ID and a live selfie with a liveness check. We never use third-party AI to process your documents — everything stays within our secure system. Combined with our reporting and blocking tools, HelloFellow is designed to be a trusted space for women travelers.
